I started experimenting with scents a few years ago now. I’ve always loved a great smelling home. I now make candles as a full time business which I really have turned my passion into a dream. There was a lot to choose from when I was getting started different wax’s, different wicks all kinds of fragrance and essential oils, it was too much to choose from so I started experimenting with them all until I found what works best I felt like a mad scientist! It was very messy and at times I didn’t think I could create the perfect candle. After which felt like years getting it wrong I finally got this part right. It was such a relief to finally have the perfect smelling and burning candle. It was then I had to make the choice of what jars and containers to use deciding on the colours and shapes was a little overwhelming as I wanted something everyone could enjoy. I found one that fitted in with my home due to always burning candles and having these on show, I chose a Matt black glass jar which fits in great with any home decor and is now what I use full time. For me, making and creating the labels was the most time consuming, I went through over 10 orders of samples before I settled for the right one. The packaging luckily was the easy part for me. I found a ridged black gift box and wrapped this in a black and white bow which makes this a great looking gift as candles are always a great gift. Once I got all of these right I started putting them all together and creating the perfect candle.

I only ever make around 12 candles at one time so I can take the time to ensure I get these perfect. I start off by prepping the wax burner fill this with natural soy wax, while that’s melting I can then get the containers ready. I stick the wicks in and use a wick holder to ensure they are in the centre of the candle. As soon as the wax is completely melted i fill up a jug with up to 3 candles worth of wax and let this set to the right temperature before adding my desired fragrance oil. Once the oil is added i get pouring. After all the candles have set i go through them all to make sure there are no defects or flaws, this is the perfect time to fix any issues. I then label these with clp labels and my own labels with scent and our logo on. I do like to put lids on and package these up as soon as possible to lock in all the scent and I like to leave these for around 7 days before I  get them sent out, so I’m always making these well in advance.
